The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has handed Russia a 4 year sporting ban, in response to numerous doping scandals and fraudulence by the country’s own doping agency.
Barring Russia from entry into various International sporting events, including next year’s Tokyo Olympics, this measure is considered an escalated action by WADA, compared to previous years.
However, sporting officials and experts remain skeptical about just how effective bans and sanctions are for suppressing doping culture in elite sports.
