Barack Obama caused controversy last week when he pushed for the 1967 borders to be a key starting point for peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine. Many senior republicans attacked him, and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said going back to the 1967 borders is simply not an option. Reactions from the Palestinian community have been mixed, with many saying Obama’s plan to redraw borders for negotiating peace would leave them short-changed.
