There is a distinct lack of legislation that protects whistleblowers in the private sector, even when the information shared is in the interest of the public. Freya Newman, the librarian who revealed that Tony Abbott’s daughter was awarded a rare scholarship by The Whitehouse Institute of Design, was brought before the court for doing so. What more can we do to best address the concerns of whistleblowers, while protecting them?
