…while Sydney Water flushes sewerage out to sea

While half the country lies in drought, Sydney Water authorities are merrily continuing to flush precious recyclable water out to sea in the form of sewerage effluent. According to a National Map of Water Use – constructed by peak industry body Water Services Association of Australia – New South Wales lagged way behind the rest of the states in it’s standard of sewerage treatment. The Map reveals that the premier state sends seven times more primary-treated effluent into the ocean than any other state each year. Greg Hunt, Liberal Mp and Parliamentary-Secretary for the Environment, told The Wire’s Christine Baker he thought it was disgraceful.
