What men are afraid to talk about…

Domestic violence affects males as well as females. This topic, among many other male health issues, was the focus of the International Men’s Health Week displays in Adelaide today. Health organisations set out to change a male culture where dialogue about health problems is virtually non-existent. Executive Director of the Men’s Information and Support Centre, Gary Moore, explains how problems grow when they are kept behind closed doors. Royal Adelaide Hospital health promotion officer James Smith says fear of discusssing health in male social groups may not only be caused by cultural trends but biological factors as well.
