Have you heard much about West Papua lately? Probably not, and that’s because the Indonesian government has put a ban on media entering the area and reporting back. When the Australian Government signed a security treaty last November it didn’t include having a free media in West Papua.A campaign is about to be launched to amend the treaty and allow human rights monitors and foreign journalists to enter the region. Dan Hamilton caught up with human rights advocate and business man – Ian Melrose who is funding the latest campaign, he began by asking how this campaign has come about?
