This week’s National Water Week coincides with the final report of the National Water Commission, which was de-funded by the Abbott government and will be wound up at the end of the year.

This highlights questions of the future sustainability of Australia’s water resources and who will fill the role now left empty of independently overseeing and coordinating the allocation and use of this precious, life-sustaining and often scarce resource.
