WA communities band together over alcohol restrictions

A weekend ban on takeaway alcohol sales in several West Australian towns has proven an effective way of reducing alcohol abuse and violence. The ban was put in place with the support of indigenous elders, police and 15 publicans of hotels in 5 towns south east of Perth. The 24-hour ban was the first time indigenous elders had adopted such restrictions.
