Victoria’s primary environmental watchdog says Victoria’s scrapping of its emissions reduction target will see it lose out on attracting clean energy jobs. Today the Baillieu government announced it is dumping its ambitious greenhouse reduction target of 20% by 2020. The move coming after an independent review, tabled in parliament this afternoon, found no compelling case to maintain the higher target.CEO of Environment Victoria, Kelly O’Shanassy says that the move will act as a disincentive to the clean energy industry in Victoria, placing jobs and investments up for grabs by other states.
