A study just released shows Indigenous rates of vaccinations for children lagging 17% behind the wider population – reflected in higher rates of preventable diseases. Public Health Officer with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Helath Organisation, Dr Sophie Couzos says despite the great gains since the last government review, ten years ago, it’s time we tried finding new approaches to improve immunisation rates. Aboriginal Mum Belinda Miller says her experience of urban health providers has been positive, with plenty of encouragement to complete vaccination regimes.
