Indigenous leaders from across the country converged on the Redfern in Sydney today, calling for a drastic shift in Indigenous affairs policies ahead of the federal election.

Their collective statement, delivered by The National Congress of  Australia’s First Peoples, outlined the need for better and ongoing engagement between the next federal government and Indigenous groups.

A key request in the statement involved restoring the $534 million cut from the Indigenous Affairs Portfolio in the 2014 federal budget.
