The United Nations isn’t an organisation which is used to staring in the face of a major lawsuit – but that could be about to change. A group of Haitian families is claiming that UN negligence brought on the country’s cholera outbreak, which began in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake. The epidemic has killed 8000 people and infected hundreds of thousands more. And now a Boston-based legal firm is preparing to represent victims’ families in a multi-million dollar lawsuit.
