Uber drivers across the UK, US, Australia, and Brazil have gone on strike to demand better pay and working conditions ahead of the app’s stock market debut.

Uber’s move to the New York Stock Exchange could increase CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s worth to more than $US90 billion.

But while the company founders see a mass income increase, drivers are still being underpaid and forced to work under poor conditions.

So if Uber drivers are considered individual contractors rather than employees, how do they fight for their rights?
