Trump threatens China with a 50 percent tariff on imports

Donald Trump has threatened China with a 50% tariff on its imports into the US unless it removes a 34% counter-tariff, further escalating tensions in the global trade war.

This follows the US imposing a 10% tariff on Australian exports to the United States.

I spoke with Dr Medo Pournader, a lecturer from the Business and Economics School at University of Melbourne, about the implications of increasing tariffs on global trade.
