A key point in the Federal Government’s response to the report to take over the Northern Territory’s Indigenous communities through 5-year leases is creating its own storm. The Tangentyere Council which oversees the Aboriginal town camps in Alice Springs fears the impact of such a move. The Council only recently rejected an offer of assistance by Federal Indigenous Affairs Minister Mal Brough in exchange for handing over town camp leases. CEO, Walter Shaw told CAAMA Radio the latest move by the government is suspicious.
