On Thursday the 25th of November the island nation of Tonga experienced its first election as a constitutional monarchy as King George Tupou V relinquished much of his power over the government in favor of greater democracy. Most of the MP’s were elected from the people, while a few were elected from the noble families. Ruth Chalker spoke with Monalisa Palu, a communications consultant and radio presenter from Nuku’alofa, Tonga.
