Three-parent babies the answer for genetic disease


A Senate committee has endorsed the legalisation of ‘three-person IVF’ as a prevention for mitochondrial disease. The procedure replaces a genetic fault in a human egg using a healthy donor, and is currently illegal because of its similarity to genetic modification.
