On yesterday’s Wire, we heard from Aboriginal elder Neville Williams about some of the environmental and cultural impacts of the Lake Cowl gold mine. He said the mine, which opened a few weeks ago, was already having a negative impact on ground water levels.Given that we’re currently experiencing what may be our worst ever drought, could Lake Cowl be just one of many examples of water-intensive mining practices?
