The Guardian Australia published a bombshell in Australian spying this morning. It detailed offers by Australian intelligence to pool unfiltered metadata from Australian citizens for intelligence in other countries to view. The Prime Minister Tony Abbott so far has not taken a position in his comments on the issue, but says he refuses to apologise for security measures carried out by the Australian government. Greens Senator Scott Ludlam has called for an update of Australia’s legal framework surrounding intelligence in order to protect the privacy of Australian citizens.
