A report released last week by an Energy producers’ Peak Body said alternative fuels were too costly to start using – suggesting they’d come into their own in future decades. But Labour environment spokesman Peter Garrett told the nation last night in a televised debate that we need an “in-your-face, profound” policy to develop a range of greenhouse-friendly options. What other choices are out there? Paul Roberts, US journalist, lecturer and auhtor of “The End of Oil” says eneryg alternatives are not yet viable for large scale use. But Frederick Fedeler of the Swedish Centre Party told Sandra Kafrouni that Sweden may be totally independent of fossil fuels as soon as 2020 – and hopes other nations will follow suit.
