Every Antarctic summer, whales migrant to Australian and New Zealand waters around Antarctica and so do Japanese whaling ships. Molly Kendall and Andrew Perry got involved in action against the whalers by chance. The idea of direct action appealed to them and they sailed off to the Antarctic sanctuary to protect whales from Japanese Ships. In the past the presence of the Sea Shepherd, with its reputation for doing whatever it takes to stop whaling, has been enough of a deterrent to illegal ships, but Andrew described to Clare Rawlinson what happened when this year, the Japanese called their bluff and started killing whales right in front them.
