Poker machine bets could be limited to $1 per play in an effort to control Australia’s gambling problem, with a bill to be introduced this week by Independent Senator Nick Xenophon. It comes in response to a draft report by the Productivity Commission, which found that Australian gamblers lose more than $18 billion every year and proposes stronger harm minimisation measures. But will these really help problem gamblers?
