The destruction of Tasmania’s old growth forests as part of the Regional Forestry Agreement between the Tasmanian Labor government and timber company Gunns is shaping up as a major environmental issue for the nation. Jess Law is forestry camapigner for the Wilderness Society which is planning protests in all capital cities this weekend. Foresters are also going public with their side of the story. Scott McLane is secretary of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union which will hold a rally in Launceston next Tuesday.
