Cyclone Idai has ravaged its way through Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Madagascar, and Malawi, causing billions of dollars worth of damage and devastating upwards of 1.5 million lives.

With natural disasters being exacerbated by the impact of climate change, there should be a greater focus on proactive measures which can mitigate the effects of disasters before they occur.

The Wire spoke with The Red Cross’ Head of International Humanitarian Programs, Michael Annear, about minimisingĀ the effects of Cyclone Idai.
