Wanita Lowe, a Dunghutti – Biripi- Wiradjuri artist had inspiration for her work; which has been chosen as a finalist in the Testra NATSIAA art awards; from the Bilirr Bilirr or Black Cockatoo.
They were from the place of her birth in Dunghutti country around Kempsey NSW and it has inspired her work “Call of the Bilirr Bilirr” which will be exhibited at the MAGNT for the final awards in Darwin August 8.
She talks about her people and being reunited with mob after growing up in the foster system.
