The Ernie Awards are a series of trophies that ‘reward’ the most offensive sexist or misogynistic remarks of the previous twelve months. They are decided by the 400-strong audience at a gala dinner each year, and last night’s awards was no exception. Dr. Meredith Burgmann, founder of the Ernie Awards, says that the rising number of women in power in Australia is a guarantee that the Ernie’s will remain for many years to come.
