Teachers demand an end to proposed changes in NSW

Public school teachers were running a little late to class this morning, opting instead to attend a meeting held by the NSW Teachers Federation. They voted overwhelmingly to strike if the State Government opts to allow Principals to select and hire their own staff. Teachers are worried that the new staff proceedures will create a teaching shortage in less popular schools and in rural areas. As the Teachers Union fights to uphold the current procedures, some parents groups are also weighing into the debate.
