Substance abuse is not a new problem. But this week National Aboriginal Community controlled Health organisation chairman Tony McCartney has declared the fight solvent, alcohol and drug abuse as one of the biggest challenges facing indigenous communities. Ria Jack spoke to Mr McCartney. One indigenous community has an Aboriginal Rehabilitation service at the frontline of their fight against alcohol, drug and solvent abuse – and the resulting breakdown of fmaily and community.
