Complementary medicines have been called many different things over the years: alternative medicines, traditional or herbal remedies. And although perceptions are changing, they’re still viewed by some as quack medicine. But that’s set to change following a proposal from the Federal Government to spend $5 million investigating the use and effectiveness of hundreds of complementary medicines. The Wire spoke to the National Health and Medical Research Council’s Nigel Harding about what prompted the move.
