The sexual assault allegations brought against players from the Bulldogs rugby league team in New South Wales are currently under investigation, and they are entitled to a presumption of innocence. However this latest complaint is just one of many reported instances of sexual assault by players from teams in different sports around the world. Cinnamon Nippard spoke to David Rowe, Director of Media and Cultural studies at the University of Newcastle, and the author of “Sport, Culture and the Media: The Unruly Trinity”; and Asociate Professor, Sheila Jeffries, from the Department of Political Science at the University of Melbourne.
