‘Softer’ welfare cuts still hurt the poorest

The government today introduced amendments to its legislation to cut welfare payments. In 2014 it announced that parents would lose the family tax benefits once a child turned 6. This has been amended to 13 but critics say it will still cut incomes dramatically for the very poorest.
