The report handed down from the Royal Commission labelled the current aged care system as “unacceptable and deeply concerning”.  The final report indicated that a major investment will be needed to fix the sector following two decades of cuts to the annual aged care budget. Specifically, an additional funding of $452.2 million will be distributed throughout the aged care sector.

The additional funding is expected to revamp Australia’s aged care system, by improving the substandard care seen previously in the sector and addressing immediate priorities.
