Over the couple of years some disturbing stories of sexual slavery have appeared in the Australian press. The Federal Government responded with a $20m anti sex-trafficking package but as Kathleen Maltzahn from Project Respect – an organisation that fights the practice – explained to Jay Lamey, the problem runs deep and it will take some time if real progress is ever made. Janelle Fawkes from the Scarlet Alliance says the best way to fight the abuse of women in Australian Brothels is to decriminalise the industry.
