Seniors threaten to walk away from major parties

A powerful voting demographic has been largely ignored by the two main parties in this year’s election. That’s according to consumer groups who represent older Australians. They say that they’re yet to see a comprehensive strategy that deals with Australia’s aging population. Funding for health services, positive employment strategies and easing the squeeze on self funded retirees were all issues of concern. They say roughly half of older Australians are undecided, and if Labor and the Coalition don’t get their act together, they’ll turn to the minor parties on August 21.
