New research at Monash University is seizing the opportunity to look into an alternative treatment for severe depression. According to figures from the university thirty per cent of people do not respond to the regular drug and counselling options for depression.

Researchers at Monash University are looking into the value of Magnetic Seizure Therapy as a way of treating people with severe depression. Deputy Director Professor Paul Fitzgerald, lead researcher on the study, says Magnetic Seizure Therapy may yield less unwanted side effects compared to the current option of electroconvulsive therapy.
