Seeking aid accountability
Calls for greater transparency, accountability and justice in the Australian Government’s delivery of post-Tsunami aid, were the focus of a debate in Sydney last night. Organised by Aidwatch, a non-government body, the discussion canvassed the complex issues and challenges facing aid agencies as the relief effort moves into the hard task of reconstruction. For Australians, who pledged a staggering $239.6 million, the message was clear ? keep a close eye on our governments involvement because not all is what it appears.
