Calls for greater transparency, accountability and justice in the Australian Government’s delivery of post-Tsunami aid, were the focus of a debate in Sydney last night. Organised by Aidwatch, a non-government body, the discussion canvassed the complex issues and challenges facing aid agencies as the relief effort moves into the hard task of reconstruction. For Australians, who pledged a staggering $239.6 million, the message was clear ? keep a close eye on our governments involvement because not all is what it appears. Speaking here on the issue are: Dr Tim Anderson, Lecturer Faculty of Economics and Business, Sydney University; Peter Jennings, Executive Officer, Union Aid Abroad APHEDA and Beris Gwynne, Executive Director, Foundation for Development Cooperation.
