Hundreds of the nation’s top scientists have descended on Canberra to rub shoulders with politicians. The scientists are calling for more evidence-based decision making from our political leaders. The event is not just a one-way street. There are also presentations for scientists on how to talk with politicians, and how to utilize tools like twitter to better communicate with the public. Some participants are hoping that the event will start to ease the tension that has emerged between politicians and scientists on issues like climate change.
