In just over a week, same-sex couples in which one partner holds a British citizenship will be able to tie the knot in British consulates across the country. While same-sex marriages performed under foreign laws are not recognised in Australia, advocates for marriage equality maintain hope the announcement will trigger further reforms. But not all same-sex couples will benefit from the announcement as many continue to travel abroad, contributing to a booming LGBT wedding holiday tourism market.
