SA government hears calls to stop sale of disability housing

Following months of uncertainty, a group of disability residents will remain in their home after the South Australian government intervened to prevent the sale of Abbeyfield House.
For over 15 years, the community home in Adelaide’s Southern suburbs had become much more – described as a place of family, where a group of eight residents with intellectual disabilities have lived independently and in peace. But, in recent months a growing situation threatened to change that, when their local council proposed to sell.
The Wire contacted Marion City Council for further comment, but they have not yet responded to our request.
