The Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation was not approached by The Wire for comment prior to the story going to air on some regional stations. They have declined all contemporaneous invitations for interviews.
Three sacred Indigenous rock engravings at Murujuga, Western Australia, were removed this month to make room for a new A$6.4 billion fertilizer facility.
Archaeologists are concerned about this seemingly rushed operation which may damage the most important rock art site in the world and possibly the next Australian UNESCO World Heritage site.
