A report released today says young people living in rural areas are twice as likely to die from risky drinking as their city counterparts. The National Drug Research Institute study shows rural youth aged 15-24 were at greater risk of alcohol-induced car crashes, suicide and violent assaults. The Wire’s Samantha Regione spoke with NDRI Director Steve Allsop and asked him why the death rates were significantly higher in rural areas.
