Rock art gives glimpse into Aboriginal society 28,000 years ago

A charcoal rock art fragment in a remote site in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory has been scientifically confirmed to date back to at least 28,000 years ago. It’s the most rigorous scientific dating of Australian rock art to date. And archaeologist Bryce Barker at the University of Southern Queensland, who found the fragment, says it adds an important chapter to the continuing story of Aboriginal society, one of the world’s oldest living cultures.
