The bombings last week have caused officials here in Australia to re-examine the security at our own airports and public spaces. Monash University researchers are in the process of designing a robot to inspect and safely remove suspicious or abandoned luggage. The robot will work in conjunction with a new high-tech video based surveillance system and researchers hope it will make our airports safer. Professor Ray Jarvis from the Centre for Intelligent Robotics Research explains how the system will work.
