Research shows businesses should not ignore local indigenous groups

The South Australian Government passed a special Act in 1982 that gave BHP an exemption from Aboriginal land rights at the Roxby downs mine. This set a precedent for many multinational corporations who are often accused of failing to properly negotiate with local indigenous people. A new report from the Centre for Australian Ethical Research suggests that resource companies could face many non-legal consequences for over-riding Aboriginal concerns.
