Report urges government to act on human rights

Australia needs a national human rights act that includes specific protection of Indigenous rights. That’s according to Tom Calma, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander human rights commissioner who launched the 2008 Social Justice and Native Title reports in Sydney today. Mr Calma has also recommended that the Australian Government formally support and implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
