A report looking into the free speech in Australia has raised serious concerns about freedom of the media. The report by Irene Moss, a former NSW Ombudsman, has found that many of the mechanisms vital for the proper functioning of democracy are wearing thin. The report was commissioned by Australia’s right to know, a campaign being run by several large media groups on the issue of free speech. News Limited is one of the media organizations behind the campaign, and their spokesperson, Lucinda Duckett discussed the report with The Wire earlier.
