It’s twenty years since the Fitzgerald report exposed corruption in Queensland, so what’s changed? The Inquiry was instrumental in the downfall of the Bjelke-Peterson governments downfall as well as exposing endemic police corruption. Tony Fitgerald QC spoke at a conference last night and told the crowd that while progress has been made, corruption is dangerously close to rearing it’s ugly head yet again, leading to very vocal denials from ex-premier Peter Beattie.
