A new study on has found that many people are too fearful or uncertain to report suspected cases of child abuse to the authorities. The NSW Minister for Community Services, Reba Meagher and the NSW Department of Communinty Serivces or DOCs, released these findings today. The report was designed to measure the community’s views and knowledge on child protection. One in three people reported that they suspected that a child they knew had been abused. But an alarming 43% failed to report their suspicions to the authorities. Now at the start of National Child Protection Week, Kirsten Veness spoke with Reba Meagher about the implications of the study
