Hundreds of protestors successfully blockaded the world’s biggest coal port in Newcastle yesterday. They’re calling for a ban on the rapid expansion of Australia’s coal industry. Climate action group Rising Tide says carbon dioxide emissions from coal are a major contributor to climate change. They want coal phased out and replaced with renewable energy, and say they are gaining community support.
