Profligate Australia will soon blow it’s Carbon Budget

The world’s carbon budget – the maximum amount of carbon humans can emit if we want to stop the climate from warming more than 2 degrees by 2100, is 1,800 billion tonnes. A new report commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund has estimated that Australia’s share of the world-wide climate budget is around 18 billion tonnes. It also says that Australia has already ‘spent’ 2/3rds of our budget, and that we will exceed it within a decade if we don’t act.
